Kigali population 965,398 (2009), is the capital and largest city in Rwanda. It is also one of the two campuses of the National University of Rwanda.

CNIS introduced the Essential Surgical Skills (ESS) course in Kigali in 2008 and the Structured Operative Obstetrics (SOO) course in August 2009. Both courses are now taught regularly at the medical school in Kigali, primarily in English.
