Ethiopia is part of our African Information Initiatives, which increases the knowledge, skills and capacity of our Ethiopian partners through sharing of information.
Since 1996, Ethiopia has been part of the CNIS library project – the University of Toronto’s electronic library linkage. CNIS continues to provide logistics support to assure Ethiopia’s continued participation in the electronic library linkage, the Primary Surgery Wiki and the African Injury Database. The progress on these projects depends on development of real broadband capabilities within Ethiopian telecommunications.
Ethiopia was the first African country to receive a book shipment in 2006. The container of new surgical books was sorted at the Black Lion Hospital in Addis Ababa and distributed to six learning centres throughout the country, Addis Ababa, Alemaya, Gondar, Hawassa, Jimma and Mekele.
