GNIS – Global Network for International Surgery

The Global Network for International Surgery (GNIS) was inaugurated at the Bethune Round Table at the University of Calgary in May, 2010. The purpose of GNIS is to promote communication and coordination of work conducted by the various International Surgery Organizations.

GNIS met by teleconference in November, 2010 with participants from Canada, UK, Holland and Australia. An America and British member were added to the GNIS executive. Plans for a web site and support of  WHO Global initiative in Essential and Emergency  Surgical care were endorsed.
