Injury, Safety, Surgical & Obstetrical Information Program

Interactive sites

Primary Surgery WikiCNIS embraces the online collaborative culture of Wikipedia utilizing new technology of the second generation, i.e. the "interactive" web. CNIS has Network connectivity with Telus, Dell server equipment, and the open-source software. The project involves the online community in contributing to the existing International Surgery and Injury Prevention body of knowledge. We are currently looking for volunteers to visit the online sites and begin adding to them, to begin all you need is a computer and an Internet connection, Call 604-739-4708 to get involved!

The software being used was originally developed for Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia hosting 1.7 million articles submitted by the public. The CNIS has been making significant progress on an initiative to design, host, and maintain our very own online "wiki" web spaces aimed at actively engaging international collaboration to make current surgical & injury information focusing on the "Primary Surgery Volume 1 & 2" textbooks and the Injury Research Consortium available globally. In the future we will have a social utility site for surgical students similar to myspace & facebook. There will also be an online global classroom for African & Canadian elementary school students.
